Wall street could turn risk averse

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The stock markets in the US could see early selling after following the strength seen in the previous session. The major index futures are trading in the red, pointing to a weak opening.

At the time of writing, the DJIA futures were down 0.20% at 18,211.50, while the S&P 500 futures were down 0.25% at 2108.65 levels. Meanwhile, NASDAQ futures were down 0.24% at 4466.40 and Russell futures were down 0.24% at 1236.40 levels. The VIX futures were up 1.96% at 15.63 levels.

Stocks may weaken in the early session on account of profit taking following the upward trend seen throughout much of the past month. However, the activity may remain subdued with a lack of major US economic data likely to keep some traders on the sidelines.

In overseas trading, major stock markets across the Asia-Pacific region weakened on Tuesday, while the European markets have also moved lower on the day.
