Beijing envoy Liu He heads home, making April Trump-Xi summit unlikely - Nikkei

According to Nikkei Asian Review, the fact that Trump administration officials on Friday didn't provide a timetable for the ongoing trade negotiations between the United States and China can be taken as a sign that a summit between President Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi is unlikely to happen before the end of the month.

"A source told Nikkei that Liu was flying out of Washington on Friday. "The substantial talks were over after two days," the source said," wrote Nikkei's Takeshi Kawanami and reminded of White House economic advisor Kudlow's comments from his interview with Bloomberg earlier today.

"The principle negotiators will continue talks through teleconference next week, Kudlow said. However, when asked what would be a realistic timeline for the conclusion of the talks, Kudlow said, "We never had a deadline," adding, "it has never been timetable-driven."
